Media Conference - Release of Report on Missing and Unsolved Murdered Indigenous People in OPP Jurisdiction Français
ORILLIA, ON, Dec. 15, 2015 /CNW/ - The media is invited to join Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commissioner J.V.N. (Vince) HAWKES, Deputy Commissioner Gary COUTURE – OPP Field Operations, and Detective Superintendent Dave TRUAX of OPP Criminal Investigation Services for the release of a comprehensive report on missing and unsolved murdered indigenous people in OPP jurisdiction. The report covers a period from 1956 to 2014.
Attending the media conference will be representatives from the Assembly of First Nations Ontario Region and the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians, an Aboriginal elder, members of the OPP Aboriginal Policing Bureau, the OPP Provincial Liaison Team and the OPP Native Awareness Training Unit.
The report (PDF) will be available for download from the OPP website at www.opp.ca via a hyperlink in the media release. All participants will be available for one-on-one interviews following the formal media conference. For non-attending media, follow-up interviews after the formal media conference concludes can be arranged in advance via the media contact below.
