MONTREAL, May 18, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - In Quebec, almost 200,000 children under the age of 18 live in poverty.1 In Canada, 19% of children – that's 1.34 million! – live in poverty.2 The 5th Community Social Pediatrics Symposium will bring together over 300 researchers, practitioners, students and professionals in health, social services and law for a collective reflection on "children's vulnerability: understanding and addressing health inequities."
Organized by Fondation du Dr Julien, the goal of this international forum is to mobilize professionals, political decision-makers and researchers around the social inequities affecting the health and development of vulnerable children.
Some 24 speakers from Canada, the United States, Great Britain and Australia will be on hand to honour Quebec as the birthplace of community social pediatrics, contribute to the development of professional practices, and share evidence-based findings from scientific research.
