Media invitation - Can you suture like a surgeon? Or deftly insert an IV needle like a nurse? Find out at the grand opening of Shriners Hospitals for Children - Canada Pediatric Simulation Centre Français
MONTREAL, Sept. 8, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Members of the media are invited to the grand opening of the Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Canada's Pediatric Simulation Centre. You'll be able to try your hand at stitching up a wound and inserting a needle intravenously at the new high-tech multi-professional medical training facility.
Improving quality of care and patient safety
Our pediatric simulation centre, equipped with the latest simulation technologies, is the only such unit in the network of 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. It is a teaching facility where all health care professionals including surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and other allied health care professionals can learn new skills or enhance their existing skills in a controlled environment. Everything, from immediate response when a child stops breathing to complex and challenging surgical techniques, can be practiced before being attempted on a young child. Many simulations also promote the importance of team work and effective communication.
