Media Invitation - Centennial College opens Innovation Hub in Scarborough to research new technologies
TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2018 /CNW/ - Centennial College is officially opening its Innovation Hub in a Scarborough commercial building tomorrow, consisting of 4,500-sq.-ft. of collaborative space tailored for industry-college applied research activities.
The leased storefront is designed for students to work on industry-led projects in three main fields: aerospace, health technologies and cybersecurity. College students are presently working on electrically actuated aircraft landing gear with Safran Landing Systems, among several other projects.
The flexible, open space is conducive to collaborative work between groups of people and can be easily reconfigured. It features a prototyping lab with powerful computer-aided design (CAD) stations, and a cybersecurity lab that is isolated to enable testing in a secure environment.
Key stakeholders from industry, funding agencies and Centennial College will be in attendance at the official opening.
