LAVAL, QC, June 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Teamsters Canada's 11th Convention will begin on July 2. Several topics will be up for discussion following the broad-based consultation launched 18 months ago among members, union representatives and the Canadian public.
For the first time in Teamsters Canada's history, the convention will be broadcast live on teamsters2013.ca. The speeches will also be available for subsequent viewing.
Important decisions will be made regarding the union's strategic positioning. A new technology tool will be unveiled, along with an updated logo. Teamsters Canada president Robert Bouvier will field questions from members during a live webcast on July 3, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Several keynote speakers are on the agenda for this three-day event, notably David K. Foot (demographic challenges), Sylvia Allegretto (the economy), Simon Lafrance (leadership) and Juliette Powell (communities in the era of social networks).
The theme of this year's Convention is "Times are changing. So are we," a reminder of the Teamsters' modern and resilient approach.
The media are welcome to attend the convention to see the new and improved version of Teamsters Canada.
