Media invitation - Launch of Centraide of Greater Montreal's 40th campaign

Some 20,000 participants are expected at this huge rally of caring citizens

MONTREAL, Sept. 30, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - On October 2, at 11:30 a.m., Centraide of Greater Montreal will kick off its annual fundraising campaign, the biggest movement of caring and solidarity in all of Quebec.

The media are cordially invited to join Centraide's March of 1,000 Umbrellas. Some 20,000 people are expected. Donors, volunteers community workers and people from the business world, public sector and trade unions will march together, holding up their umbrellas, to show their support for the people helped by Centraide and its network of 362 agencies.

Date:	Thursday, October 2, 2014.
Activities:	Centraide's March of 1,000 Umbrellas, followed by the announcement of the fundraising goal for Centraide of Greater Montreal's 40^th campaign.

TIMETABLE:

11:30 a.m.	Participants assemble on McGill College Avenue, at the corner of St. Catherine Street West.
11:45 a.m.	Interviews with the co-chairs of Centraide of Greater Montreal's 2014 campaign, Elliot Lifson, Vice-Chairman of Peerless Clothing, and Monique F. Leroux, Chair of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins Group, as well as Lili-Anna Pereša, President and Executive Director of Centraide of Greater Montreal.
12:00 noon	A word of welcome and speeches.
12:15 p.m.	KUMPA'NIA, a colourful strolling drum troupe, will lead off the march, heading east along St. Catherine Street.
12:45 p.m.	Arrival at the Place des Festivals of the Quartier des spectacles and announcement of the fundraising goal for the 2014 campaign.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES:

Four raised platforms will be installed for photographers and camera operators wishing to take overhead shots of the event:

• Two at the starting point of the march, at the southwest corner of McGill College Avenue
• One at the corner of Union Avenue
• One on Jeanne-Mance Street (Place des Festivals)
