MONTREAL, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Villa Maria High School invites you to the only conference two Maasai Warriors, Wilson Meikuaya and Jackson Ntirkana, will give in Montreal as part of their Canadian tour sponsored by "Free the Children".
The two men are here to present their book, The Last Maasai Warriors, an autobiography of growing up in that mythical community. The title refers to the book's central theme: they belong to the last generation of Maasai for whom killing a lion was a rite of passage into manhood. Today's young Maasai must embrace education, if they are to thrive in the modern world.
Villa Maria students who visited Kenya last July during a humanitarian trip met the two Maasai who work for "Me to We" (Free the Children's innovative enterprise dedicated to global social change) as guides and cultural ambassadors.
The young Maasai tribesmen will describe how they became warriors, scholars, and leaders in their community; and how the future generations' battles will be in the classroom.
