QUÉBEC, Oct. 10. 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Musée de la civilisation executive director Stéphan La Roche, with internationally renowned photographer and lookalike specialist François Brunelle, is pleased to invite you to a press visit to mark the opening of the exhibition
My 2,000-year-old Double
Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 11 a.m.
At Musée de la civilisation
85 rue Dalhousie, Québec City
Preparation for the exhibition attracted worldwide attention, with a global call for technological contributions launched between fall 2016 and spring 2017. This bold and innovative initiative challenged contributors to match contemporary faces with busts over 2,000 years old on loan from Musée d'art et d'histoire de Genève and Fondation Gandur pour l'Art in Geneva. A total of more than 108,000 international participants submitted photos! Thanks to facial recognition software and the hard work of the Museum team, participants' photos were matched with the busts presented in the exhibition. Québec photographer François Brunelle immortalized the 25 faces selected.
This original concept has captured the interest of media outlets around the world, including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Boston Globe, and even Yahoo.com, to name a few. Several key project players will be on hand, including François Brunelle and some of the selected participants/doubles. A short video on the making of the exhibition will also be presented.
Interviews will be possible with François Brunelle and the doubles in attendance. To help us properly coordinate interviews and ensure that everything goes smoothly, please submit interview requests to one of the media relations contacts listed.
The exhibition runs from October 24, 2018, to May 12, 2019.
An exhibition designed and produced by Musée de la civilisation, with photographs by François Brunelle and with the collaboration of Musée d'art et d'histoire de Genève and Fondation Gandur pour l'Art in Geneva.
