Media invitation - National climate change symposium ADAPTATION CANADA 2016 - A first in Canada in 10 years Français
OTTAWA, April 11, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Alain Bourque, from the Ouranos consortium, and Al Douglas, from the Ontario Centre for Climate Impacts and Adaptation Resources (OCCIAR), invite media representatives to the official opening of the national symposium ADAPTATION CANADA 2016, a first in Canada in 10 years. Attending the symposium will be Elder Josee Whiteduck and Chief Jean-Guy Whiteduck of the Kitigan Zibi First Nation, David Chernushenko, an Ottawa City Councillor, and the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
The keynote address as well as a presentation will be given by the eminent researcher Katharine Jacobs, director of the Center for Science and Climate Adaptation Solutions, University of Arizona. Ms. Jacobs has served on numerous panels of the National Research Council, was chair of the NRC panel on Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change and was a member of the panel on America's Climate Choices. Her research interests include water policy, the link between science and decision-making, stakeholder involvement, the use of climate information for water management, adaptation to climate change and planning for drought.
