Chief Jean-Roch Ottawa of the Council of the Atikamekw of Manawan, the Grand Chief of the Atikamekw Nation Constant Awashish and the Chief of the AFNQL Ghislain Picard will speak on the lack of ambulance services in the Atikamekw community of Manawan located in the Lanaudière region. This situation puts at risk the health and the safety of more than 2,500 community residents. The recent and tragic drowning of an 8-year-old girl brings back to the forefront an longstanding issue. The speakers will denounce the current situation which infringes on the right to equality and violates the Canadian Charter of rights and freedoms and the Charter of rights and freedoms of Quebec. They will address the two other levels of Government and the general population.
