Media invitation - Special Olympics Québec pays tribute to its athletes and to Annie Pelletier, Joey Saputo, Stephen Covey and Hydro-Québec
MONTREAL, Jan. 25, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The members of the media are invited to attend tomorrow, January 26, 2017, at 6 p.m. the Special Olympics Québec Athlete Award Evening and the induction of 4 new members into the SOQ Partners' Hall of Fame which will take place at the John-Molson Room located at 1670 Notre-Dame Street East (corner of Papineau) from 6 to 8 p.m.
At this event, 7 recognition awards will be given to our athletes who have distinguished themselves during the last year. This ceremony will be followed by the induction of 4 prominent figures into the Special Olympics Québec Partners' Hall of Fame.
This year, in recognition of their outstanding work and their commitment towards our organization, we will have the honour of inducting:
in the Sport Celebrity category: Annie Pelletier – Olympic medalist Atlanta 1996, director of communications at Fondation de l'athlète d'excellence du Québec and Special Olympics Québec honorary patron since 1998;
in the Sport Manager category: Joey Saputo – President of the Montreal Impact and Stade Saputo;
in the Police Department Director category: Stephen Covey - Chief of Police and Chief security officer at CN;
in the Business category: Hydro-Québec, represented by David Murray – President Hydro-Québec Distribution.
Dimitrios (Jim) Beis, member of Montréal's Executive Committee, responsible for Procurement, Sports, Recreation and Communities of Diverse Origins and mayor of the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Borough, and our major partners will be attending this event along with the athletes being honoured and the new inductees to celebrate with us.
