Media Invitation - A Run From One Hospital to Another: Even when breathless, nurses run to stress out the importance of maintaining good mental health Français
MONTREAL, May 14, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - Four inspiring nurses will run the 52 kilometres that links nine hospitals and three CHLSDs in Montreal to encourage their colleagues not to give up while reminding them of the importance of paying attention to their mental health. Sarah Bachand, Natalia Mursa Curchi, Rosein (Gülin) Yilmaz and Mélanie Myrand initiated this race to remind their colleagues about the importance of verbalizing what they are feeling and to take time to recharge their batteries. This race will also be an opportunity to honour the memory of Sonia Brown. The event will take place on Sunday, May 16 and will conclude Nursing Week which runs from May 10 to 16.
People will be able to participate throughout the day by making noise… masked and two metres away. Anyone who wants to get moving while celebrating the extraordinary work of nurses can do so from anywhere! All you have to do is share photos and kilometres covered by running, pedalling or walking during this day and accompany them with the hashtag #MoveWithUs. You can also make a donation to the Mouvement Santé mentale Québec on Race Roster by choosing the cause FROM ONE HOSPITAL TO ANOTHER. For more details, visit the event's Facebook page.

A silent mental health crisis is hitting nurses and healthcare workers, according to a national study. The shortage of staff and the heavy workload is a daily reality contributing to stress and suffering1. The Mouvement Santé mentale Québec therefore salutes the initiative of these four nurses and reminds us that it is essential to provide healthy workplaces to promote good mental health, both individual and collective wealth, which is too often underestimated. As part of this race, the MSMQ invites all workplaces to take one more step to promote the mental health of workers. The7 Tips KIT can give you some ideas for this.
