Media Invitation - Centennial College students present "The Story of Us," an exploration of love at the Getaway Bar
TORONTO, May 27, 2024 /CNW/ - Centennial College's School of Communications, Media, Arts, and Design is proud to announce an upcoming student and alumni-led collaborative performance entitled "The Story of Us," set to happen at the Fairview Library Theatre. This free event, scheduled for June 4 and 5, promises an engaging exploration of love's many facets through a creative mix of live performances and visual art displays.
"The Story of Us" is a theatrical journey into the depths of love and its manifestations. Against the vibrant backdrop of the Getaway Bar's open mic night, we encounter a cast of colourful characters offering poignant glimpses into their romance, friendship, and growth stories.
Featuring hits and deep cuts from the Taylor Swift catalog played live by Centennial College musicians and singers, this work showcases original choreography and an original script by the Centennial College dance and theatre students. It's been a long time coming, and you won't want to miss this enchanting evening!
The show integrates performances by students from:
- The Theatre Arts and Performance program
- The Music Industry Arts and Performance program
- The Dance Performance and Performing Arts Fundamentals programs
Multimedia, lighting and sound are supported by students from:
- The Broadcasting - Film, Television, Digital Media and Radio program
- The Script to Screen - Advanced Television and Film program
Advertising, marketing communications and public relations are led by students from:
- The Corporate Communications program
In addition, Game Design, Fine Arts and Photography programs will showcase their artistic works, which will be available for purchase, before the show begins.
Throughout the evening, attendees will be treated to heartwarming narratives and impressive art displays, reflecting the talented pool of Centennial College's students. In a special tribute to Taylor Swift, each performance will be set to a soundtrack of her most beloved songs. This musical journey through Swift's catalog is intended to resonate with fans of all ages, adding a familiar backdrop to the evening's tales of love and emotion.
The event also aims to promote a deeper connection between the community and tomorrow's rising artists and designers.
"The Story of Us offers a platform for our students to not only display their artistic and theatrical talents but also to make meaningful connections with the community and their peers," said Justine San Pedro, Show Producer and Centennial College Performing Arts Fundamentals Program alumni.
