MEDIA INVITATION: Hungry Young Campers Receive BBQ Lunch in Regent Park
Second Harvest and Sodexo feed 220 summer campers
TORONTO, Aug. 12, 2014 /CNW/ -
Who: 220 hungry children from Toronto city camps.
What: Second Harvest, Sodexo and volunteers will feed hungry campers at the Feeding Our Future BBQ.
Where: Lord Dufferin Public School, 350 Parliament Street (south of Gerrard).
When: Tuesday, August 12th, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
Why: To provide kids in city camps with a special BBQ, and highlight the Feeding Our Future program.
The Feeding Our Future program was developed by Sodexo in response to children going hungry over the summer months. Inner-city parents were reluctant to sign up their children for free summer camps because they couldn't afford to provide them with lunches to take along for the day. Many of these children rely on free or subsidized lunches throughout the school year but go hungry in the summer months. Second Harvest and Sodexo collaborate on Feeding Our Future, with funding provided by The Geoffrey H. Wood Foundation, to provide approximately 38,000 lunches to Toronto kids over the summer.
