MEDIA INVITATION - Inauguration of CRF Agritech, an Innovative Fertilizer Coating Plant, in St. Thomas
ST. THOMAS, ON, Sept. 15, 2023 /CNW/ - Sollio Agriculture, the agribusiness division of Sollio Cooperative Group, along with several cooperatives and joint ventures in its network across Eastern Canada, invites media representatives to the inauguration of CRF Agritech, an innovative controlled-release fertilizer production plant located in St. Thomas, Ontario. At present, no other plant in Canada can manufacture custom fertilizer formulations like CRF Agritech.
This infrastructure, which required an investment of over 20 million Canadian dollars, manufactures, among others, PurYield, a new generation of fertilizers with numerous agronomic and environmental benefits, and which are more technically advanced than fertilizers currently purchased from foreign suppliers.

About the CRF Agritech Plant
- This plant is the result of a joint venture between Sollio Agriculture and several of its retail partners, as well as Pursell, a leading innovator in coating technologies based in Sylacauga, Alabama.
- This fertilizer coating plant project was also made possible thanks to the participation of several of our network's cooperatives and joint ventures across the eastern part of the country.
- As part of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' Fertilizer Accelerating Solutions & Technology Challenge, CRF Agritech has been awarded $154,000. This grant will help accelerate the production and adoption by growers of controlled-release fertilizers.
- One of the fertilizers to be produced there, PurYield, is currently being studied by McGill University to scientifically validate its agronomic and environmental benefits. Already in 2021 and 2022, researchers from McGill and the Sollio Agriculture Research Farm had found that using PurYield has the potential to reduce GHG emissions by 30%.
