Media Invitation - Order of the White Rose Ceremony
MONTREAL, Nov. 26, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - Gilles Savard, Acting President of Polytechnique Montréal, and Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire, Honorary Chair of the Board of Directors and Order of the White Rose Selection Committee Chair, invite the media to attend the seventh edition of the Order of the White Rose scholarship ceremony, which will take place in person at Polytechnique Montréal in the Rolland Gallery, on the 6th floor of the main building.
Danielle McCann, Québec Minister of Higher Education, and Nathalie Provost, survivor of the tragedy and patron of the Order, will also speak at the event.
This event will award the $30,000 scholarship to a Canadian woman engineering student who chooses to pursue graduate studies at a university of her choice, in Canada or elsewhere in the world.
Over time, white roses have become a symbol for Polytechnique to commemorate the December 6, 1989 anti-feminist attack that claimed the lives of 14 women and injured several others. Established in 2014, the Order of the White Rose is a decidedly forward-looking initiative, born of the desire to walk a path of peace and healing after this tragic event.
