RED DEER, AB, April 5, 2017 /CNW/ - The Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off 2017 (SCDO) will take place on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel in the Special Event Centre.
This year's eight community leaders will wow the crowd as they step out of their comfort zone and onto the dance floor. The Class 2017 has proven to be a hard working group who has faithfully practiced their dance moves over the last five months and has raised more than $450,000 so far.
The 2017 Celebrity Dancers are: former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy; Rollie Cyr and Jodie Schreiner from Calgary's Sports and Entertainment; Colleen Manning, owner and manager of Studio Pilates; Dustin Snider, manager of Earls Red Deer; Jesse Wallin, former NHL player; Karen Goranson, CACAC board member; and Sherri Ryckman, district manager for Central Alberta at The Co-operators.

Proceeds from this event are for establishment of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre Sexual (CACAC) providing a new home for the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC).
The CACAC is a new vision for Central Alberta. It will adopt the integrated services model of the Sheldon Kennedy Sexual Assault Centre (SKCAC) in Calgary. Sheldon Kennedy is one of this year's Celebrity Dancers and tells us: "I am honoured and excited to be a part of Sheraton Celebrity Dance Off 2017. I am inspired by the community's passion and commitment to doing what is needed for children and youth suffering from abuse." Sheldon adds: "To combat the mental health outcomes related to child abuse, community partners must work together. That is why I am so proud to be part of this initiative in Red Deer!"
