SAINT-MATHIEU-DU-PARC, QC, July 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Parks Canada proposes an original news story topic: after an absence of more than 20 years, the common loon, a symbol of Canada, has come back to La Mauricie National Park.
Since the beginning of the summer season, several loon couples have been sighted on various park lakes. This most welcome return is thought to be the result of concerted conservation and awareness-building actions.
On Friday, July 19 at 9 a.m., Parks Canada will be offering the media the opportunity to travel over Wapizagonke Lake by boat in the company of Albert Van Dijk, Resource Conservation Manager, in order to watch, photograph or film loons in their natural habitat.
Following this outing, Mr. Van Dijk will be available for interviews.
Please note that boating safety equipment will be provided on location.
