MONTREAL, April 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Media Ranch Founder and President Sophie Ferron just signed an exclusive distribution agreement to represent Le Groupe 50+, which holds broadcast licences for Canal 50+ in French and Channel 50+ in English.
Sophie Ferron's mandate includes rights to negotiate with both Canadian and international broadcasters and producers in various television markets the acquisition of broadcast rights to documentaries, various programs, formats, videos and films, or the creation of coproduction agreements in Groupe 50+'s area of activity.
Madame Ferron will also be tasked with promoting and selling the format of the socially oriented television network created in Quebec and property of Groupe 50+Ltée named Canal 50+ in French, but available in other languages for other countries. She will also be actively involved in the start up and broadcast launch of Canal 50+ and Channel 50+.
Sophie Ferron has a proven track record in all areas of film and television: production, broadcasting, distribution as well as international business development. She has held senior executive positions in companies such as Technicolor, Astral Media and TQS. As an external consult, she also advised various Quebec broadcasters such as RDS and TV5 Québec Canada concerning their workflow analysis and work environments, strategic planning initiatives and programming strategies.
In 2008, Sophie Ferron created Media Ranch with its unique two-pronged mission of producer and distributor of entertainment formats for television. Besides its activities as a production house specializing in docu-drama, magazine, variety and reality television, Media Ranch also owns a format agency that has represented the media giant Endemol since 2008. In 2011, Radio-Canada also gave Media Ranch the mandate to identify opportunities and create a business strategy to sell its formats internationally.
