TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2013 /CNW/ - MediJean is pleased to announce that starting today it will be hosting a month-long online debate on the subject of medical marijuana. The Medical Marijuana Debates will invite the public, patients, doctors, law enforcement personnel, and politicians to take part by exchanging their comments, views, and experiences with this important medicine.
"As a leader in this new industry, we felt it was important to host a national debate in order to raise awareness around medical marijuana," said Anton Mattadeen, chief strategy officer at MediJean. "Our goal with this debate is to spur conversation around medical marijuana and bring key issues and public input onto a national stage at a scale that has never been done."
The medical marijuana industry needs informed voices as it develops. Mattadeen says this is why MediJean is going to great efforts to host programs such as the Medical Marijuana Debates that will provide the public, patients, medical professionals and other stakeholders with industry-leading resources that cannot be found anywhere else.
Health Canada announced in June new regulations that will change the way Canadians access marijuana for medical purposes. These regulations require patients who need medical marijuana to receive a prescription from a doctor or nurse practitioner and have their medicine shipped directly to them from a Health Canada approved Licensed Producer.
"As Canada is transitioning into the new regulations, it's important to move the dialogue around medical marijuana to a point where we can have an honest and fact-based discussion," said Mattadeen. "MediJean is committed to providing doctors, patients and the public with information they can use to explore the topic, become aware of the various viewpoints and ultimately make more informed decisions on medical marijuana."
The debate will take place in an online forum, where the public, doctors, nurse practitioners and other industry stakeholders will weigh-in on discussions about medical marijuana.
The moderated debate is being promoted across Canada within the Quebecor network, including on Canoe.ca, The Toronto Sun, Ottawa Sun, Calgary Sun, Edmonton Sun, Winnipeg Sun, London Free Press, Journal de Montreal and Journal de Quebec. MediJean and independent journalists at The Medical Marijuana Review will publish articles and research at medicalmarijuana.medijean.com and medireview.com, respectively.
MediJean is leading the rebirth of medical marijuana through a laser focus on research, quality and patient experience by implementing best practices here and around the world. Doctors and nurse practitioners will understand and safely prescribe it within a clinical framework, patients will have access to clean and affordable medicine, and university research partners will help the company expand the frontiers of medical marijuana in the years ahead.
