TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Hudson's Bay Company Foundation is pleased to introduce Philip, the 9th annual heritage charity bear in support of the Foundation's 2014 charitable partners. Donning an HBC Signature striped toque, Philip is a polar-white teddy that pays homage to one of the many adventurers that contributed to the history of Canada and legacy of HBC.
The limited edition Philip is named after Philip Turnor, HBC's first inland surveyor. Turnor surveyed and mapped much of Rupert's Land from 1778 - 1792, amassing a tremendous amount of information about the interior of North America for HBC. In the winter of 1789-90, Turnor taught the art of surveying to David Thompson, who later became North America's most important map-maker.
100% of net proceeds from the sale of Philip go to the HBC Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the lives of Canadians through programs that reflect our distinct Canadian values.
