MEG Energy appoints Chief Financial Officer
CALGARY, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - MEG Energy Corp. announced today the appointment of Eric Toews to the position of Chief Financial Officer.
"Eric brings to MEG more than 20 years of experience, expertise and strategic leadership in the financial sector," said Bill McCaffrey, President and Chief Executive Officer. "His career has been exclusively focused in oil and gas which will be invaluable as we continue to move forward with our long-term growth strategy."
Toews joins MEG Energy from BMO Capital Markets where for the past eight years he has held the position of Managing Director, providing strategic financial and capital raising advice to Calgary-based oil and gas companies. Prior to joining BMO Capital Markets, he worked for nine years with leading Canadian and U.S. investment banks based in Calgary, Toronto and New York, focused on the Canadian oil and gas sector. Toews, a chartered accountant, spent the first six years of his career in public accounting with PriceWaterhouse in Calgary and Ernst & Young in Regina. He holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina and is a member of the Canadian and Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants.
