MEG Energy raises $30,000 for the Ed Stelmach Community Foundation
CALGARY, July 16, 2013 /CNW/ - MEG Energy Corp. ("MEG") announced today that the 2nd Annual MEG Energy Invitational golf tournament raised a total of $30,000 for the Ed Stelmach Community Foundation - taking the two-year grand total to $50,000. With a focus on family values, The Ed Stelmach Community Foundation provides assistance to those in greatest need through small and highly motivated Alberta charities.
"The Foundation is committed to making a difference in the lives of Alberta's children and their families," says former premier Ed Stelmach. "We are thrilled to work with MEG Energy on the MEG Invitational. The funds raised through this golf tournament will go a long way in supporting many charities which, though sometimes smaller in scope, often have the biggest impact on the people who need our help the most."
Held at the Fort Saskatchewan Golf and Curling Club, the tournament's locale pays tribute to Alberta's Industrial Heartland, a region essential to MEG's growth plans and the petroleum industry alike.
"We focus on engaging with the communities in which we live and work, and look forward to strengthening relationships with our neighbours in the Heartland," says MEG Energy President and CEO Bill McCaffrey. "Partnering with the Ed Stelmach Community Foundation falls in line perfectly with how MEG invests in our communities."
The Heartland is home to a number of MEG projects including the Stonefell Terminal, Access Pipeline and the planned HI-Q™ Field Demonstration Project - a technology demonstration plant designed to add value to oil sands resources at a lower cost and environmental impact than traditional upgrading technologies.
