LONGUEUIL, QC, July 7, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (The Corporation) wishes to notify road users that major work in the Melocheville Tunnel is set to begin for a period of 12 weeks, from July 14 to September 29, 2014. This work calls for the complete closure of the South lane to fully replace the lighting system.
Traffic will circulate in the North lane, with traffic flowing in alternate directions.
This work is a continuation of the work that began in 2013 in the North tube when the overall lighting system was replaced.
Fall 2014
In the fall of 2014, PJCCI will also undertake work to secure the rock walls in the tunnel to reduce the run-off of water and prevent traffic disruptions caused by an accumulation of ice. This work will require partial lane reductions, with both lanes remaining open to traffic.
