Member of Parliament Joe Daniel Announces Support for Canadian Foundation for Asian Culture Français
TORONTO, Nov. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Joe Daniel, Member of Parliament (Don Valley East), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for the Canadian Foundation for Asian Culture (Central Ontario) for its Asian Heritage Month Festival.
"The Canadian Foundation for Asian Culture presents diverse and engaging cultural activities year after year for our community," said Mr. Daniel. "This festival is an opportunity to celebrate the heritage of Asian Canadians and their contribution to Canada's history and culture."
This funding will support the 12th annual Asian Heritage Month Festival, which will take place in May 2014. Activities will include music, dance, theatre performances, films, and exhibits.
"Festivals like this one provide opportunities for Canadians to learn from each other and experience our differences while celebrating our common identity," said Minister Glover. "Our Government is pleased to support organizations that strengthen our communities and enrich the quality of life of all Canadians."
"We are very grateful for the funding that we have received from Canadian Heritage," said Justin Poy, Honorary Patron of Asian Heritage Month. "It will go a long way in ensuring that we are able to continue the important work of recognizing and celebrating the significance of Asian culture in Canada."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $10,900 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
