DON MILLS, ON, Dec. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - John Carmichael, Member of Parliament (Don Valley West), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for Gateway to Knowledge Press.
"We are pleased to contribute to the success of Gateway to Knowledge Press, a Canadian book publisher engaged in educational publishing since 1998," said Mr. Carmichael. "Thanks to fantastic Canadian publishers like this one, the leaders of tomorrow can have access to a variety of quality educational resources."
"Our Government understands the importance of a vibrant Canadian book industry," said Minister Glover. "Through the funding announced today, we are proud to support the ongoing production, promotion, and distribution of Canadian educational books."
"With the support of Canada Book Fund, we are going strong into our 17th year of publishing curriculum-based classroom resources for elementary schools," said K.L. Kwong, President of Gateway to Knowledge. "We are grateful for the grant provided by Canadian Heritage, which allows us to continue publishing great resources in support of the Ontario school system."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $73,504 to Gateway to Knowledge Press through the Support for Publishers stream of the Canada Book Fund (CBF). The principal objective of the CBF is to ensure access to a diverse range of Canadian-authored books in Canada and abroad. The Fund seeks to achieve this objective by fostering a strong Canadian book industry that publishes and markets Canadian-authored books.
