Men must champion women's advancement: Ernst & Young
Sources available to discuss business strategies that can help women reach the C-suite
MONTREAL, Oct. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Despite the strides being made by women to advance into leadership positions and be adequately represented in the C-suite, the aid of male leadership is frequently underestimated, Ernst & Young revealed during the International Women's Forum in Montreal this week. The firm announced that while focusing on the potential of women, it's important not to overlook the critical role that men can play in enacting change.
"Women deliver visible, quantifiable and impressive results in business, and research supports the fact that organizations with women represented in leadership tend to perform better financially," said Sylvain Vincent, Ernst & Young Managing Partner in Eastern Canada. "As the economy recovers, businesses require the fresh perspectives of women to propel growth and compete at the global level. With diversity paving the path to success, now is the time to engage men in the discussion to stay ahead of the game."
Yesterday, Ernst & Young hosted an executive roundtable discussion on the keys to advancing women in business. The objective was to develop some tactical, action-oriented ideas that Canadian leaders will be able to put into place.
Ernst & Young leaders, including Sylvain Vincent, Eastern Canada Managing Partner, and Fiona Macfarlane, Managing Partner, People, are available to comment on ways to engage male leaders in driving efforts to help women reach C-suite positions. They can also address how to ensure that mentoring and leadership development programs are achieving the desired result.
