Statement
From Mental Health Commission of Canada
OTTAWA, June 22, 2018 /CNW/ - On behalf of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, happy Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day to all francophones in Canada. I especially extend my best wishes to Quebecers who are celebrating their National Holiday this Sunday.
Saint-Jean-Baptiste is celebrated across the country to acknowledge the Canadian Francophonie and Quebec's national day. We are blessed to live in such a diverse country where two official languages flourish.
This year, Saint-Jean-Baptiste celebrations in Quebec revolve around the theme, "Stories of heroes". As president and CEO of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, this theme resonates with me both personally and with regard to our work at the Commission. Every day, thousands of heroes brave the challenge of a mental health problem or illness. In Canada, one in five people will experience a mental health problem or illness this year, and its effects will ripple across families and friends. We must remind our heroes that they are not alone and should not be afraid to speak up.
On behalf of the Mental Health Commission of Canada, I applaud our mental health heroes. You are not alone. Do not hesitate to seek help.
A happy national day to all Quebecers and happy Saint-Jean-Baptiste to francophones across Canada.
Louise Bradley
President and CEO, Mental Health Commission of Canada
