Mercator Transport's revenue continues to grow, with revenue of $11,958,000 for the second quarter of 2010-2011, a $5,204,000 or 77 % increase compared to the same period a year earlier. Mercator Transport reported a $4,000 EBITDA1 loss and a $63,000 ($0.002 per share) net loss for the second quarter of 2010-2011, compared to EBITDA of $170,000 and net profit of $82,000 ($0.003 per share) reported for the same period a year earlier.
The integration of the new places of business and acquisitions by the corporation allow to generate new revenue compared to the same period in the previous year, but also result in increased costs, accounted for by start-up expenses made to ensure the development and integration of the new places of business, including those made in the human resources sector. The Canadian logistics and distribution activities of the corporation, representing the traditional core business activities of Mercator Transport, show, for their part, rising profitability.
"We have succeeded at generating quarterly revenue close to $12 million for a third consecutive quarter, thanks to our selective international growth strategy," said Mr. Jean-Pierre Apélian, President and CEO.
