TORONTO, Feb. 3, 2016 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada announced today that the company and its national dealer network retailed a total of 2,923 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart units in January. This represented the best January on record for the group, and a remarkable increase of 17.2% or 428 units compared to January 2015.
A total of 2,624 Mercedes-Benz luxury light trucks and passenger cars were delivered in January which translated into a 21.8% gain for the month. The sizeable increase is attributable to an outstanding performance on the luxury light trucks side with a total of 1,532 units sold or up 51.8% when compared to last year. The entire SUV portfolio performed well with noteworthy mentions for the GL, G-Class and GLE, up 116.9%, 100% and 61.7% respectively. On the passenger car side, the E-Class showed a gain of 43.5% for the month.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 68.9% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 96% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in January (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 25 vehicles sold in January.
The Mercedes-Benz Vans Division also began the year on a positive note by delivering a total of 274 units. These results represented a notable increase of 24% in the number of units sold through the Canadian dealer network. The recently introduced Metris helped this positive sales performance.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division launched 2016 by delivering a record total of 906 vehicles. This was an increase of 4.1% compared to the same time period last year and represented best ever January results. Certified Pre-Owned sales accounted for 74.7% of the volume.
