TORONTO, July 5 /CNW/ - It is with great excitement that Mercedes-Benz Canada reported today that it achieved, on several fronts, its best results ever recorded in its history.
A total of 3,109 Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles were sold throughout the month of June making it the best sales month ever. When June's impressive figures are combined with the record-breaking sales results from April and May, a total of 9,200 units were retailed in the second quarter of 2010 - the best quarterly results ever reached in the company's history. At the end of the first half of the year, overall combined Mercedes-Benz and smart sales are ahead 20.9% or 2,753 units, which also represent the best half year results ever reported for Mercedes-Benz Canada.
Throughout the month of June, a total of 2,758 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks were retailed. This represents the best month ever for the Mercedes-Benz brand, and an increase of 19.4% or 2,324 vehicles year-to-date. At the mid-year point, total passenger car sales are ahead 17.2% or 1,257 units, while luxury light truck sales are ahead 22.8% or 1,067 units on a year-to-date basis.
Strong B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL-Class, GLK-Class, M-Class and GL-Class model sales were instrumental in June's successful sales results. With 720 units delivered in June, the GLK-Class recorded the best month since its introduction and an increase of 27.7% compared to June 2009. In addition, substantial demand across the entire E-Class family translated to the best all-time E-Class month in the company's history.
The diesel take rate was 77.9% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC(TM) units accounted for 74.1% of the overall passenger car and light truck sales in June (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 233 units delivered in June. The smart brand has retailed a total of 1,119 vehicles year-to-date.
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter sales continued to post positive sales growth with a total of 118 units delivered for the month.
Mercedes-Benz Pre-owned sales also reported their best month, best quarter and best half year ever with a total of 1,099 vehicles delivered in June. This represents an increase of 27.8% or 240 units compared to June 2009, and overall growth of 29.3% or 1,138 vehicles for national Pre-owned sales year-to-date.
"The mid-year point is a natural time to look back at our overall sales performance, and I am very proud that we have continued to shatter previous sales records and reported sustained growth across our entire model range," said Marcus Breitschwerdt, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "These multiple record-breaking results represent a significant milestone for our company and I am profoundly grateful to our employees and dealers for their hard work and commitment to consistently exceed customer expectations. Our collective ambition to lead the luxury segment remains steadfast as we enter the second half of this year."
