TORONTO, Sept. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network reported today that the company has delivered 3,066 Mercedes-Benz, Sprinter and smart vehicles in August. This impressive result represents the best August ever for the group, and an increase of 23.0% for the month. In total, 23,716 units have been sold by the Mercedes-Benz Canada network of corporate retail stores and private dealers year-to-date.
Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks recorded 2,435 units retailed. This is up 20.7% when compared to August 2012, and pushed total sales to 20,239 units this year. A total of 1,366 passenger cars were delivered, which amounts to an increase of 7.7% for the month. The C-Class continued to be a very popular choice among Canadians, with sales of the C-Class Coupe ahead a notable 12.2%.
Luxury light truck sales were up 42.7% for the month with a total of 1,069 units sold. This outstanding figure was fueled by continued strong demand across the entire vehicle range. For example, retail deliveries of M-Class and GL-Class were ahead by 88.4% and 63.6% respectively in August.
The diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 76.3% for the month, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 79.4% of overall passenger car and light truck sales in August (excluding smart).
smart reported brisk sales in August with a total of 403 vehicles retailed. This equates to an overall increase of 40.9% compared to August 2012.
A total of 228 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters were delivered throughout the month. This represents a 20.0% increase for the month, and helped boost overall growth for the division to 26.5% with 2,236 units sold.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division reported 1,248 retail deliveries throughout August. A grand total of 9,005 Certified Pre-Owned units have been sold by dealerships across the country year-to-date.
