Mercier Bridge work BLITZ: trucks prohibited during morning rush hour towards Montreal from August 5 to 9 Français
LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users that trucks will be prohibited on the Honoré Mercier Bridge towards Montreal during morning rush hour from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., from Monday, August 5 to Friday, August 9.
This measure aims to ease traffic for drivers during morning rush hour in the final week of the major work BLITZ on the Honoré Mercier Bridge, which coincides with the end of the construction holiday.
Truck drivers are invited to use the new A-30 westbound to access the island, as well as the other South Shore bridges during this period. The ban only applies during morning rush hour, as the closure of the A-20 East ramp for the A-15 South on the Turcot Interchange reduces alternative options for truckers during afternoon rush hour.
Only one lane, 3 meters large, is open in each direction on the Honoré Mercier Bridge until Monday, August 12, at 5 a.m. Trucks exceeding this width are already banned on the bridge. During this work, road users are encouraged to avoid the Mercier Bridge and use public transit.
The other South Shore bridges are also strongly recommended, as with the end of the construction holiday, traffic will be heavier.
