The 20th annual survey identifies Canada's leading employers for workplace excellence
TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2018 /CNW/ - For the second consecutive year, Meridian is honoured to be named as a 2019 Platinum Level Aon Best Employer in Canada, the premiere benchmark for assessing the quality and performance of Canadian and global workplaces.
Platinum winning companies are those in the top-scoring 25 per cent of all companies that Aon surveys as part of its "Best Employers" program. The four criteria that Aon reviews include: engagement, leadership, performance culture, and employment brand.
"Our commitment to maintaining a culture of engagement is a key differentiator," said Bill Maurin, President and CEO of Meridian. "We know that the quality of employee experience shapes the future of a company and we have called that out as a business imperative in our strategy. We view our employees as our greatest asset and have built a purpose driven culture where employees feel valued and empowered to think of new and innovative ways to address the unmet needs of our Members."
Meridian, Ontario's largest credit union and third largest in Canada, is part of a distinguished group among 30 large organizations (400 or more employees) and 19 small and medium-sized enterprises (between 50 and 399 employees) to be recognized by this year's Aon's study.
"Having a highly engaged workforce has never been more important," said Todd Mathers, Partner and Canada Talent Practice Leader at Aon. "Organizations are facing unprecedented disruption, requiring many to change the nature of jobs and how work gets done – and to do this quickly and effectively. Doing this well is critical to maintaining and improving the end customer experience and – by extension – organization performance. Our research consistently demonstrates that engaged employees provide organizations with a competitive advantage when managing through change. "Congratulations to Meridian for showcasing a culture of engagement and a commitment to workplace excellence."
"Our engaged and consistently motivated employees make decisions that are in the best interest of Meridian and our Members, and it shows," added Maurin. "We are proud and honoured that Meridian and its talented team continue to be recognized on a national scale."
