Message from the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada on the Occasion of Canadian Armed Forces Day

OTTAWA, June 5, 2016 /CNW/ - As governor general and commander-in-chief of Canada, I am honoured to mark Canadian Armed Forces Day.

In Canada and around the world, whether contributing to global efforts to fight terrorism, restoring peace and security in conflict zones or providing relief in response to natural disasters, we know that we can count on the sense of duty and unwavering dedication of our men and women in uniform.

Today, we have the opportunity to convey to them our appreciation as each and every day, they defend the core values that define who we are.

It gives me great pleasure to join with all Canadians in offering you, our Navy, Army and Air Force personnel, our sincere thanks for your outstanding service. You are a source of national pride.
