Message from the Governor General of Canada on the Occasion of National Public Service Week Français
OTTAWA, June 12, 2016 /CNW/ - Our institutions are a reflection of the democratic values that bind us as a nation and are therefore infinitely precious. National Public Service Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate the culture of excellence and the diversity that exist within our public service while showcasing the range of contributions and services provided by its members.
In this era of rapid, unprecedented change, our public servants have a tremendous influence over government initiatives and, by extension, over many aspects of our society. This is one of the reasons why leadership in our public service is essential. We can be proud, in Canada, of having built one of the most effective and respected systems of governance in the world.
It therefore gives me great pleasure to join with Canadians in offering warm thanks to all public servants who, by answering the call of duty each day, are building a smarter, more caring country.
David Johnston
