OTTAWA, Nov. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - Since my installation as governor general, I have been inviting Canadians to imagine new ways to build a smarter, more caring nation.
I recently took part in WE Day Ottawa, where we discussed the importance of giving and inspiring others to give, particularly as we approach 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation. I saw passionate young Canadians determined to help others and was deeply impressed by their remarkable inclination to act. I was pleased to see in each of them the spirit of philanthropy, and truly they are wonderful drivers of change and sources of inspiration committed to building an even stronger culture of giving than before. They are our next generation of givers.
As we celebrate National Philanthropy Day, I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all those who believe in the importance of ensuring the well-being of humanity, who act on that belief, and give generously to communities and causes.
Keep up the great work!
