OTTAWA, July 28, 2017 /CNW/ - For the past 50 years, the Canada Games have been bringing together the country's top young athletes for a major multi-sport competition. This celebration of sport is the perfect opportunity to rally the nation around physical activity as we celebrate our culture and heritage.
Over the next two weeks, young people from every province and territory will put their long hours of training to the test as they compete against one another. Along the way, they will also have the opportunity to meet their peers and form bonds of friendship that may last a lifetime. When the Games come to a close, many of these athletes will set their sights on international competitions, even the Olympic Games!
As we mark the 50th anniversary of the Canada Games, I will be presiding over the Closing Ceremony in Winnipeg and encouraging present and future generations of Canadian athletes in their pursuit of excellence.
Enjoy the Games!
