Metro Morning Ranks #1, Achieves 20 Share for the First Time
Outstanding Results Revealed in the January 2012 PPM Survey
TORONTO, Feb. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - January's PPM results were released yesterday and CBC's Metro Morning is the top-rated morning show with a 20.1 share*, the first time the popular program has achieved a 20 plus share in the market. Metro Morning has been the number one morning show in Toronto for the past five years.
"We are public service driven, not ratings driven, but there are precious few metrics that show so clearly the phenomenal growth of Metro Morning over the past decade as the PPM and BBM ratings from 2002 to 2012," says Susan Marjetti, Managing Director - Toronto Region. "It is truly rewarding to see CBC's Metro Morning continue to resonate," Susan adds. "More and more people in Toronto are talking and CBC is listening and engaging in the stories that matter to this city. That's what gets us out of bed in the morning. That's what makes more than one million Torontonian's tune in each day."
Hosted by Matt Galloway, Metro Morning shares the stories and experiences of living in Canada's largest city.
"The greatest compliment you can get as a broadcaster is that someone stayed in their car, was late for work or stopped cold in what they were doing because they couldn't pull themselves away from what they were hearing on the radio," says Matt Galloway. "It's a privilege to be part of the Toronto conversation, and a thrill to see that the stories we tell in this hyper-diverse city connect with so many people."
Metro Morning is produced by Senior Producer Laura Brown, Executive Producer Joan Melanson, and Host Matt Galloway.
Metro Morning can be heard weekdays, 5:30am to 8:30am on CBC Radio One, 99.1FM.
