Metro raises $500,000 dollars to support Canadian Red Cross efforts in Haiti
MONTREAL, March 10 /CNW Telbec/ - The vast fundraising campaign aimed at Metro Inc. customers and employees following the earthquake that struck Haiti in mid-January raised half a million dollars. The campaign took place from January 18 to February 10, 2010, in Metro, Metro Plus and Super C stores, and Brunet and Brunet Plus pharmacies in Quebec.
"We would like to thank all of our customers and employees for their unprecedented display of generosity. Their donations will help support Canadian Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti, where the need is still great," stated Marie-Claude Bacon, Director, Corporate Affairs, Metro Inc.
For over a month, Metro had a link on its consumer website through which the public could make an online donation directly to the Red Cross. The company also placed donation boxes at all store cash registers.
