TORONTO, Oct. 23, 2015 /CNW/ - The largest gathering of cardiovascular health professionals in Canada is meeting at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) for an annual Congress that is expected to infuse the local economy with approximately $4 million. From Oct. 24 – 27, approximately 3,300 cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, researchers, nurses, and specialists from around the world will attend the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) for four days of education, collaboration, and networking. The Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) is no stranger to Toronto as the Congress has been held at MTCC three times in the last eight years.
"The CCC draws a national crowd – attracting many delegates from cities across the country," said Annual Meeting Chair Todd Anderson. "The MTCC's space is ideal for inspiring attendee success at this year's annual event." Anderson also cites the convention centre's location within the core of Toronto as a major draw for members.
The CCS was formed in 1947 and has since grown to be over 2,000 members strong. The Society is recognized both nationally and internationally for the CCC, which unites the Canadian cardiovascular community and celebrates and explores innovative Canadian research. Through education and collaboration, working to improve the health and hearts of Canadians remains the ultimate goal of the Congress.
"Toronto is happy to welcome back the CCS and their annual Congress which provides the necessary setting for advances in research, significant exchanges, and new partnerships within the cardiovascular community," said Barry Smith, President and CEO of MTCC.
