MFDA IPC Announces Appointment of Dorothy Sanford as New President
TORONTO, June 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of the MFDA Investor Protection Corporation has formally announced the appointment of Dorothy Sanford, FCPA FCA, to succeed Joni Alexander as President of the MFDA IPC, on Joni's retirement after a decade as the founding staff member and President. Dorothy has nearly 30 years of experience in financial services regulation and consulting, including many years as a partner of a major accounting firm, and with staff of the Ontario Securities Commission.
Chair David Richards commented "Dorothy's extensive securities regulatory and consulting experience will ensure the MFDA IPC continues its leading role as the contingency fund for the mutual fund industry. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Joni Alexander for her tremendous leadership and stewardship of the MFDA IPC since it began offering coverage to investors in 2005".
The MFDA IPC is a not-for-profit corporation that provides investor protection in the mutual fund industry. It is sponsored by the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada and is the only compensation fund approved by the Canadian Securities Administrators for MFDA dealer members.
