$20-million Microsoft Technology Centre will support Canadian companies and inspire innovative business solutions
TORONTO, June 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Microsoft Canada today announced the opening of its new Microsoft Technology Centre (MTC), a highly collaborative, world-class facility in Mississauga that will give Canadian businesses access to cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading expertise. The aim of the centre is to enable businesses to envision, design and deploy innovative solutions that will better meet their needs and goals.
"The Microsoft Technology Centre will have a huge impact as a Canadian innovation hub, reimagining what's possible in Canadian business and helping to drive this country's economy forward," says Staci Trackey Meagher, Vice President, Enterprise and Partner Group, Microsoft Canada. "Despite the global economic uncertainty in recent years, Microsoft Corporation has continued to steadily increase its R&D investments, and this new $20-million facility is just the latest example of our long-standing commitment to make Canadian businesses worldwide leaders in technology."
The MTC will help Canadian enterprises gain maximum value from Microsoft and partner technology solutions by offering them a complete collection of resources in one place - software, hardware and services, as well as partner expertise. Customers will collaboratively build innovative solutions to meet a specific business need or challenge.
"Having access to the MTC gave us the resources necessary to performance test our solutions and validate the robustness of our technology," says Warren Perlman, VP Hosting, IT & Performance, Ceridian. "The experience enabled us to prove the scalability of our platform and build our award winning Dayforce Human Capital Solution that now has more than 1,000 clients across North America."
Based in Microsoft Canada's Mississauga headquarters, the new MTC is the 31st in the world, with 12 centres in the United States and 18 internationally. Designed to help businesses tap into the expertise and training that Microsoft has to offer, the new $20 million dollar facility was funded in joint sponsorship by Microsoft Canada and technology partners.
"The centre will allow Canadian enterprises to better compete by unleashing the power of Microsoft's products and technology partners' solutions in their own businesses," says Ross Mistry, Microsoft Canada's National Director, Microsoft Technology Centres at Microsoft Canada. "With Windows 8, Windows Phone, Surface and the variety of on-premise and cloud based offerings, Canadian businesses can build tailored applications and solutions which will move these businesses forward."
Microsoft is committed to opening Microsoft Technology Centres in major markets where it has district offices and a robust enterprise customer community. The MTC has a tremendous collection of resources available to customers exploring Microsoft and partner technology solutions. Customers interested in taking advantage of these resources can request an engagement designed to fit specific business needs.
