MONTREAL, Aug. 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The 6th edition of the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids, presented by Thomson Reuters, took place at the prestigious Le Club Laval-sur-le-Lac golf course. The generosity of partners and participants has made it possible for honorary president Luc Paiement, Executive Vice-President - Wealth Management, National Bank and Co-President and Co-Chief Executive Officer, National Bank Financial, to present a cheque for $517,000 to René Rouleau, Chairman of the Board of Opération Enfant Soleil.
This contribution will allow Opération Enfant Soleil, a member of Children's Miracle Network, to make tangible improvements to the quality of care provided to children in Quebec. It will go towards adapting care and equipment to children's needs—both in major paediatric centers and in regional hospitals—and towards providing kids with a better quality of life during hospitalization, through the creation of environments that help their recovery.
The Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids is an initiative of The Mike Weir Foundation and Children's Miracle Network. "The support and generosity of the participants make a huge difference in the lives of sick kids," said Mr. Weir, whose trip to Montréal included a visit of the Montreal Children's Hospital at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), one of the four major paediatric centers of the province supported by Opération Enfant Soleil.
Thomson Reuters was proud to present the event: "Thomson Reuters has been a proud partner of Mike Weir since 2007. He is the embodiment of what we believe in: the power of professional dedication combined with a commitment to the community," said Eileen Lynch, Senior Vice President, Global Brand Marketing at Thomson Reuters.
"At National Bank, we put great value on the development of young people. That's why we support Opération Enfant Soleil, who is playing a leading role in this regard," said Luc Paiement, honorary president of the event.
The success of the event is largely due to the support of its sponsors: Thomson Reuters, National Bank, TELUS, CGI, Fiera Capital, Horizons Exchange Traded Funds, Jean Coutu Group, Pomerleau and RE/MAX.
