Mill Street Brewery core lineup of brands certified organic
A new survey by Mill Street reveals more than half of Canadians want to see more beer options that are clean and organic
TORONTO, July 5, 2018 /CNW/ - Mill Street Brewery announced today that its core lineup of beers will be fully certified organic. Cobblestone Stout and Tankhouse Ale will join Original Organic Lager and 100th Meridian as organic certified – one of the most difficult, complicated and time consuming certifications to achieve in brewing; one which consumers value highly.
A recent national survey conducted by Mill Street revealed that organic beer is in high demand and in fact, a staggering 74% of Canadians who want cleaner beer options expect the variety in their organic beer choices to keep up with the increasing availability of organic food products. Mill Street has been in front of this trend and remains committed to broadening its organic portfolio with even more high quality and great tasting beers. Organic certification recognizes the highest and most rigorous standard in organic production, with the entire process protecting and maintaining the organic integrity from field to glass.
"We first brewed our organic beer in 2002 and being organic certified is no easy feat, so I am proud to share our new organic core lineup with beer lovers across Canada," says Joel Manning, Head Brewmaster, Mill Street Brewery. "Every step of our brewing process is deliberate and pursued with rigour. We are excited to offer Canadians a best-in-class organic beer that has been produced with care. We are constantly focused on what we do best – delivering the experience of truly unique, premium beers."
The organic lineup provides Canadian beer lovers with a great tasting beer made from higher quality ingredients. Mill Street has always brewed with meticulous care, ensuring every ingredient meets the brand's high-quality standards. It comes with a guarantee of organic purity through certification to the Canadian Organic Standard, while supporting sustainable farms, communities and the environment.
Mill Street's new organic core lineup comes at a time when consumer preferences are shifting towards clean and ethical product consumption. The recent survey conducted by Mill Street revealed that 1 in 4 Canadians believe there is a lack of organic beer options on store shelves and 76% of that group would like more beer options that are considered clean and organic. Another 74% expect that as their organic food and beverage options continue to increase, so too should their organic beer selection. Across the board, millennials proved to be the most interested in organic beer options, demonstrating a growing consumer trend in Canada.
According to the Canada Organic Trade Association, there has been a significant increase in Canadians buying organic products over the last few years. In 2016, 56% of Canadians spent some of their weekly grocery budget on organic items. Just one year later, this had increased 10 percentage points to 66%. Millennials are the key drivers of the organic growth with 83% purchasing organic food and beverages – the highest of any generation. There is clearly heightened interest in the products Canadians consume, and as that interest logically expands to the beer category, Mill Street is committed to providing Canadians with premium organic products.
Mill Street's organic lineup is now available for purchase nationally, including at all LCBOs and The Beer Store locations in Ontario.
