Mingling for money program starts in Victoria, BC - the next generation of
social networking
VICTORIA, July 9 /CNW/ - Jason Grigolato owned a large retail store in Victoria, BC. With a challenging economy, Jason had to close the doors and figure out what to do next. On June 7, 2010 Jason responded to an ad looking for Part Time Independent Sales Reps on Kijiji, a popular online classifieds website.
The advertiser was a Toronto company named Buyandsellitall, an incubator started in 1999 that creates businesses focused around helping people with some of life's bigger day to day challenges, like buying a car, having one's vehicle written off by their insurance company and dealing with parent transitions. Buyandsellitall plans to expand across North America by creating an Independent Sales Rep network to generate leads, starting in British Columbia. BC was chosen because it was in Canada, had a large professional population base, no provincial licensing requirements for car brokering services and a public insurance system.
"There were several unique attributes of this role that I felt were in sync with my values and future business goals" says Grigolato. "It fueled my entrepreneurial desires to start my own business without any upfront costs and scale it based solely on the effort I put in. I liked that their businesses were about helping people. I thought their business models made sense and offered valuable services for the public. I liked that my role was solely to build my network and refer prospects; head office provided all the remaining support and execution. This means I don't have to be an expert in any of these areas. And I also liked that I wasn't locked in to just one product or service. As they build more companies and I build my network, I will be able to provide more ways to help my contacts and have more opportunities to increase my income".
"This is the next generation of Social Networking" claims Viraf Baliwalla, President of Buyandsellitall. "It isn't just about Facebook or Twitter ads. This approach allows us to leverage people power to champion our cause within our reps' personal and business networks, get the word out about each of our businesses and create new sustainable jobs and businesses at the same time".
Buyandsellitall's current businesses are: Automall Network, a car broker service to save car buyers time, hassles and money on new and used vehicles; TheyWroteOffMyCar.com, a helpline for people whose vehicles have been written off by their insurance company; and Transition Squad, a project manager that helps families going through a parent transition. Transition Squad is not yet available outside of Toronto.
