OTTAWA, Oct. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today congratulated the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association on celebrating their 30th anniversary.
"Women are a vital part of our country's economy. I applaud CIWA for giving women the opportunity to develop leadership capacity and skills to help Canada communities prosper," said Minister Ambrose.
CIWA was established in 1982 with the goal of addressing the barriers, needs and concerns of immigrant women and girls and their families. During its 30 year history, CIWA has developed innovative programs, entered into partnerships and become an organization that is truly responsive to the unique and diverse needs of its constituency. Over the years, CIWA has made the transition to Canada a more comfortable, pleasant and successful one for more than 60,000 immigrant women and girls.
