CALGARY, Sept. 26, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women, today saluted the Van Horne Institute, along with its co-hosts the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council and Elle and Associates, on their series of Calgary networking events and conferences Captivate!, Inspire! and Engage! which focus on women in the supply chain sector.
"Women are increasingly accessing new opportunities in non-traditional fields, opening doors for others to follow, and excelling at the challenges of leadership," said Minister Ambrose. "Women play a key role in Canada's economic prosperity. By promoting networking and leadership development, the Van Horne Institute is strengthening the economy in Alberta and across Canada."
Supply chains act as an essential link between natural resources and manufacturing all across the country. Through this series of events, the Van Horne Institute is helping women who work in supply chains to strengthen the economy in Canada and around the world.
The Van Horne Institute is recognized within Canada and internationally as a leading institute of public policy, education, and research in transportation, supply chain and logistics, and regulated industries. The Institute develops and implements post secondary programs and public policies to support the attraction and retention of qualified workers, including women, in the sector.
