Minister Carr Highlights the Benefits for Manitoba of the New Public Transit Infrastructure Fund Français
WINNIPEG, April 8, 2016 /CNW/ - The Honourable Jim Carr, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, today reinforced the positive impact the Government of Canada's new multi-billion dollar Public Transit Infrastructure Fund will have in Manitoba.
More than $82.8 million will be allocated to support the recapitalization, modernization and renewal of public transit systems across the province.
Through the Government's historic first budget, $3.4 billion is being immediately invested through a new Public Transit Infrastructure Fund, to help provinces, territories and municipalities maintain safe, efficient, reliable and accessible transportation networks. Funding will be allocated to municipalities based on ridership.
The Public Transit Infrastructure Fund is only one component of the Government's historic investment of more than $120 billion in infrastructure over 10 years to better meet the needs of Canadians, make it easier to move people and products and to better position Canada's economy for the future.

Our government is committed to growing the economy and protecting the environment, here in Manitoba and across our country."
