Minister thanks Transportation Safety Board of Canada, will review findings
OTTAWA, Dec. 2, 2015 /CNW/ - The Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, issued today this statement regarding the Transportation Safety Board of Canada's investigation report into the 2013 collision between an OC Transpo bus and a VIA Rail train in Ottawa, Ontario:
"I'd like to thank the Transportation Safety Board of Canada for their tireless work investigating accidents like these in order to learn from them so that they do not happen again.
"The safety of Canada's transportation system is a shared responsibility regulated under many jurisdictions. Transport Canada officials are reviewing the recommendations and are committed to working with their provincial and territorial partners to continuously improve the safety of all Canadians.
"I extend my heartfelt thoughts to the families and victims of this accident. While nothing can bring back the lives of those we lost, I do hope this report can provide some closure on the tragic events of that day."
